Memorial Day Dedication 2007: Amos Olney

It is tradition for Battery "B" to gather each Memorial Day to re-dedicate one of the graves of its Civil War veterans. As the Batterymen gathered on that sunny morning, they were greated by a disheartening sight as they found the grave of Battery "B" 1st R.I. Veteran Amos Olney, had been recentl vandalized. With only a short time before the ceremony was scheduled to begin, the members set to work repairing and resetting the headtsone. With some joint effort, and a common goal, the stone was restored and the dedication ceremony went off on time and as planned. Decendant members of the Olney family where on hand to partipate in the days ceremony. With the men an women of todays Battery to help to continue honoring the sacrifices of the soldiers, who served our state during the Great rebellion.
